BuildMaster upgrade 6.0.11 -> 6.0.12

  • Hi,

    I've tried to upgrade BuildMaster from 6.0.11 to 6.0.12.
    It looks like 6.0.12 distribution does not see the previous version and upgrade function does not work, it tries to make new clear installation instead of upgrade.

    Product: BuildMaster
    Version: 6.0.12

  • This may happen from time-to-time if there was a failed installation; the installer basically looks in the Windows installed product database (a registrysetting), and then performs an upgrade if already installed.

    you can safely install the new version "on top" of the old version, and the result will be the same (an upgrade).

  • I have tried to install 6.0.12 as you mentioned, but unfortunately I got shiny fresh install without any data I had in my 6.0.11... :(

  • If that's the case, then you didn't point to the same database instance that your 6.0.11 was installed to; as long as you do that, then that database will be configured.

    Make sure to delete the "new" database, so you don't accidently keep two databases around,

  • I have pointed 6.0.12 to the correct database as I have used option "Use existing database instance". After installation process completed I checked that that with SQL management studio. There was just one instance of BuildMaster DB, fresh, without any my data. So I installed back 6.0.11 and restored DB from a backup I did before 6.0.12 installation.

  • Glad to see it's working; but just as an FYI, the installer does not have any code that can delete the database. That's only in the uninstaller program, and that needs to be manually run with double-confirmation (in the UI).
