ProGet Web Server filters out PDBs

  • Hello

I am using ProGet 2.0.6. When downloading a .nupkg using the web front-end, the .pdb files inside the package's lib folder are filtered out. I verified that the original package stored in the ProgramData folder does contain a .pdb file.

  • This is following NuGet's specifications: http://docs.nuget.org/docs/creating-packages/creating-and-publishing-a-symbol-package

There is supposed to be a separate symbols package; so, if you request the symbols, it will be in there.

TBH it seems a bit off to me... and we are considering changing this behavior. But, this just risks further incompatibility with NuGet.

  • Actually this is really annoying. We prefer to deploy our packages with the .PDB inside.

As ProGet is intended for enterprises, I would request you to change this behavior, or at least make it a configuration option.

In the meantime, how can we make ProGet serve also the separate symbols package (we are not connected to the Internet)?

  • Just as an update, we will be releasing an option to include symol files in the regular package in a 2.2.x maintenance release (targeting 2.2.14 now)

  • Apologies for the delay, but as of v3.0.3, you can configure your feed so that the PDBs are not stripped out.

  • Thanks for this! We also use ProGet for internal assemblies and having symbols readily available through the NuGet package saved me from having to hack something together so we could have easy access to the PDBs.
