Where do I find information about why a deployment fails? Where is the error message?
-
First off, I am a complete noob to BuildMaster. This is my first application that I am trying to setup within my organization. It's super simple:
- Check out source
- Set Assembly Info
- Install Nuget packages
- Compile
Well the Build fails with message:
'The execution has failed. Select "View Details" for the complete error details.'I click "View Details" and see:
Execution Initialization
DEBUG: Initializing server 1... DEBUG: Server FPSRVRDEVBMASTE (ID: 1) initialized.
SCM
1: Get Latest Source from MyApplication to $CurrentDirectory 0.38s Failed DEBUG: Source and target directory are the same; splitting...
This is still no help. I think something is wrong with the SCM checkout, but what? What's wrong? What is the error? Is it that "Source and target directory are the same; splitting..." That doesn't seem like an error to me. It is listed as a DEBUG: message. So I click "View Complete Log"
It just gives me the same stuff with a nice pretty black background. But nothing appears to be an error message.
I am used to creating builds in Jenkins where I can view the raw output logs and find a very specific error message at the bottom that indicates why a build fails. From there, you fix and build again. How is one supposed to troubleshoot a failed build in BuildMaster? Where does it tell me what went wrong?
Please help...
Thank you!
Product: BuildMaster
Version: 4.9.7

Hi Ryan,
That's definitely unusual! There should definitely be a bunch of logs here, especially showing the exact SCM command-line command that was run. So, something quite unexpected is happening...
What source control provider are you using? And also, what happens when you test connection?
Can you share the configuration of the provider (a screenshot should be ok), you can send this to us at support - at Inedo dot com.
