Unable to Edit Existing Deployment Scripts on a Project

I can add pre- and post-deployment scripts to a project template, but whenever I try to modify one (e.g., change the value of one of the parameters), I get an exception. The workaround is to delete the script from the project template and re-add it with the new parameter values.
