Upgrade path from v3.3.3 to v4.6.5

Hi BuildMaster,

We need to export Build Plans from version 3.3.3 for use with the current release (4.6.4). Is there an export function for version 3.3.3? If so please share information on how we can export an action group for use with the latest release of BuildMaster.

If version 3.3.3 doesn't allow for exports ... please offer ideas on how we could migrate or copy Action Groups to the new server. If we need to upgrade the old version to get access to the Export functionality ... please specify what version the Export feature was introduced in. We might be able to make a copy of the old BuildMaster server so we can upgrade so we can export Action Groups.

BTW ... Our old BuildMaster server has not been upgraded for several years because there were problems with previous upgrades and it was considered too risky to continue upgrading this older system.

There is no export functionality in that version, the recommended path is to just use the installer. What do you mean when you say it’s “too risky” to upgrade? Traditionally, only a few upgrades that we’re aware of have failed when upgrading from any version, and those were mostly due to unsupported database changes made by DBAs, which we can usually help resolved based on the error messages. Have you tested an upgrade by backing up and restoring the database, then running the installer against it?
