Getting LDAP to work
-
This is just a short summary. I was meant to evaluate Proget, Nexus and Artifactory to see what we could use.
Setting up ldap in artifactory was easy.
Setting up ldap in Nexus was easy (after enabling debugging). Ldap groups works perfectly
Setting up ldap in ProGet has been a real pain. It just does not work! I've tried the old v4 style, the new generic ldap and the new v5 active directory in 25.0.25 - they all fail with a filter exception.
We have group names that start with pound sign/hash # and that seems to completely thwart all attempts to use proget. Sigh!
Getting passed that hurdle by using a dummy group filter that returns nothing simply gets you nowhere since you can't add ldap-defined users to build-in groups. Double sigh!

Hi @no-doubt,
We are software engineers that provide technical support to technical end users. We cannot help non-technical users who provide no technical information. Moreover, I'm not willing to work with users who call our products "a real pain" and share counter-productive "facts" about how easy competitive products are. You should know better.
I'm going to lock this thread, but I'll give you another chance though.
If you'd like to continue your evaluation and receive technical support, please spend a few moments reviewing other forum posts to see how users communicate with us. If you feel comfortable doing that, then post again. If not, then it sounds like you've got two products to choose from.
Sincerly,
Alex
