We have a Proget version 3.7.6.2 and a free perpetual license.
We hat to restore the VM where it is installed and the mac address changed or some other parameter to identify the sever so it is required to activate the license again.
Now ProGet asks to be reactivated but when we generate the activation code on myinedo site and do a save on the Manual Activation form the system says the activation code is invalid.

From the documentation there should not be any limitation on the activations of the server.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how can we fix it?

      Kind regards

@internalit_7155 although v3.7 is really old, it should still work. The box on MyInedo is currently really teeny, so make sure that you expand the box and copy/paste the entire activation code. It's pretty long, and it should end with = or ==. (it's a base64 encoded string)

          Hi atripp

          Thank you for you answer.
I did copy it multiple times as well as cut instead of copy but to no avail.
When I hit save I get an error saying the activation code is invalid.
I also though it should still work and also it should have no limitations of the number of activations... Any idea what I could check?

I might have found the issue. The activation code before was signed with sha1 hash and now a sha256 hash is used and probably this is not supported by version 3.7.6.2 hence the invalid registration code issue.

I also tried to upgrade to 4.7.9 version to no avail... do you happen to know which version introduced the sha256 hash thing?

Thanks for investigating that; unfortunately I don't know the details to that.

We did a bit update to MyInedo recently, and tested it with an old install of BuildMaster v 3.5 and ProGet v2 - both requested a new key and activated it fine.

Maybe, try requesting a new license key at MyInedo that might help?

                Hello
I tried generating anew license in a new account but no sigar.
I usually use the manual activation because it looks like it's the only option that the software allow.
Is there another way to generate a new free license?

                  Hi @internalit_7155,

After updating your license in ProGet, did you restart the web server (or application pool if using IIS)? If not, could you please try to restart your web server (or application pool if using IIS)?

                  Thanks,
                  Rich

                    hi @internalit_7155

Any updates on this issue? Were you able to resolve/fix this problem?

We've had another customer who reported a very similar problem (activation of a key on our new server, using sha256 vs sha1, causes an error in an old ProGet version). But we still can't reproduce it, and now I wonder if it's related to operating system version, or another operating system patch that's missing.

                    Thanks,
                    Steve
