I have been trying to set up a Build .NET Project step for my Visual studio 2012, framework 4.0, wpf project in build master. When it goes to build I keep getting the following error..."
Task could not find "LC.exe" using the SdkToolsPath "" or the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\WinSDK-NetFx40Tools-x86". Make sure the SdkToolsPath is set and the tool exists in the correct processor specific location under the SdkToolsPath and that the Microsoft Windows SDK is installed
      ..."
I have tried everything I could find, including specifying the SDK location but nothing so far has even changed the message, much less worked. I am at a loss, any ideas?

        Hi Jesse,

It seems like this is a popular problem with MSBuild: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3269191/lc-exe-file-not-found-during-build-for-net-4

There's lots of solutions, and unfortunately it looks like a bit of trial/error is needed to get it working.

          Steve,

Yep seen that article, tried it all, except the installing visual studio, as the server admin has a big problem with us doing that. He has tasked me with exhausting all the possible avenues before we pull that trigger. Will see, if that ultimately is the only solution that will work, then he will just have to like it...
