      Is this allowed?

I don't mind paying for software that is worth paying for. I just can't afford the licensing feeds for ProGet Basic. :)

I read that client aggregation is not allowed if even one of the ProGet instances is running the free version of ProGet. That's not what I'm asking about. I'm curious if I can run publicly-available feeds and feeds with access restrictions on the SAME free ProGet instance.

      Thanks

      Product: ProGet
      Version: 5.2.5

        Hi Steve,

Hopefully this page will clear up any confusion about the free version restrictions.

It doesn't say a thing about hosting public and private feeds on the same free instance. I looked. (Several times.)

It talks about client aggregation and connectors.

I'm looking for an explicit answer to my question. I THINK, based on what I saw, that I can do what I want to do, but I'm asking because I'd like an answer so I can be sure.

          Thanks

the truth? You can't. You have to read between the lines. Yes, ProGet free instances can host public instances, sure, but not private ones. You also can't have a private and a public feed on the same instance, but that's due to IIS lack of support for two different forms of authentication being able to run concurrently at the same time.

ProGet does not have the concept of "public" or "private" feeds, you can instead grant the "Anonymous" user certain permissions, including viewing and publishing packages.

ProGet Free Edition does not allow feed-level permissions, only system-level permissions. So you can grant "Anonymous" whatever rights you want, just not at a feed-level.
