Cached maven feed do not work

Hello,
We have tried ProGet as an alternative for our current maven server. In order to migrate we have created a feed with a proxy against our old maven server, thinking that the dependencies should be pulled to and cached at the ProGet server when we use them. No package is cached however even though caching is enabled:
"Caching: Enabled (connector packages will be cached when they are first requested)"
Should it work at all for maven feeds? Does it need additional configuration?

It seems Maven feeds are missing support for caching connector packages. I've filed this as PG-1411.
