Git extension 3.4

After updating to the latest version of the git extension I am getting the error:

An unexpected error occurred while attempting to connect. The specified executable is not a valid Win32 application.

with any action that tries to access the git executable. I've tried it both with the built in exe as well as a standard git.exe. I can run git commands from the machine via the command prompt with no issues. I've attempted to uninstall / reinstall the extension with no change. Running on a windows XP machine.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps, try pointing the extension to use your git.exe instead of the built-in?

I did. I pointed it back to the same git.exe it was using before the update and it still threw the same error.

Switching the .exe should work fine... it looks like our embedded client (lilgit.exe) does not support XP. So, we'll be making Git 3.5. Stay tuned.

In regard to switching the exe.. should I be able to save the change from using the built in exe to a standard one without hitting the "Test Connection" button?

When I try switching to an external git.exe and click the "Save" button, I can open the provider properties back up and the "Use Standard Git Client" option is unchecked again. Any other changes I make seem to save, just not changes to that option.

The same thing happens when I create a totally new provider / source as well. I set it up to "Use Standard Git Client" and hit save then open the new connection up and it shows as unselected.
