Manual step - Mark complete only option?
-
Good morning,
We did a big release yesterday (for the first time with BuildMaster) and we had some manual steps that still needed to be executed. The person in charge gets a warning and goes to hes tasks. There hes only option seems to be to "Mark complete" this task.
During one of the manual tasks something went wrong and we needed to halt the execution and start over after we fixed some things. This was a rather difficult process and we were wondering if its possible for the person who is assigned to the manual task to maybe generate an error or stop the execution. (Maybe with some sort of comment)
Have a nice day,
Nick
Product: BuildMaster
Version: 4.9.5

Thanks for the feedback; we had originally considered this when designing the Manual Action (it's not trivial, but it really wouldn't be that hard... we just didn't want to overcomplicate things :D)... the main reason we didn't implement the feature was because we had assumed the same effect could be accomplished by simply canceling the execution, and adding a build/promotion note to indicate the reason.

I myself have no real problem with that flow. The releases to acceptance and production however are done by infrastructure. The only thing they really want to do is follow rules and if they are not able to execute something post a red flag.
P.S.: How do you go back to the execution with the account that has to perform the manual action? The normal executing in process is exchanged by a blue bar.

Thanks, I'll add this as a feature request;
there should be a link on the "perform manual action page" that links to the execution, but you can see all current executions on the home page dashboard.
