Failed to install extension for BuildMaster

  • Hi guys,

I am trying to install some extensions(svn, Jenkins, TFS) to get started in BuildMaster.

However it seems some issue happens:
A WebException occurred when attempting to load extension components XML: The operation has timed out

I wonder where can I go for more detail about this error to figure out how to fix it?

    Thanks a lot!

    Product: BuildMaster
    Version: 4.8.4

  • If you're getting this, most likely BuildMaster is being prevented from downloading the extension; you can just install manually in this case, by downloading the extension , saving it in the Extensions folder on the BuildMaster server, and then stopping / restarting the service.

  • Hi Alana,

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry I forgot to mention, I am unable to see the BuildMaster Extension Gallery in the Admin/Extensions Overview page. Therefore I download the extension manually and put it in the extension folder, and restart the service. Then the message I mentioned showed up in the Admin/Error Log page.

  • In that case, it's likely due to automatic activation, or who knows, failing; the error log is intended really just for debugging / diagnosing known problems. If things are working ok, then you can ignore it.

  • Well, the problem is after I copy the bmx files to the buildmaster extension folder, there is still just the default 4 extensions showing up in the page, the svn, jenkins, tfs extension are not installed.

  • You will also need to restart the web app (Admin > All Settings > Save).

But, if all you see is the 4 extensions with a [?] mark for an icon, then that means that they're installed ... and that's to be expected when BUildMaster cannot reach inedo.com. They will still be installed and function however.

  • I did restart the service by going to Admin/Manage Service, then stop/start the INEDOBMSVC there.

And then nothing changed in the extensions overview page. No question marks...

  • You need to restart the WEB APP as well as the service.

You can do this by recycling the application pool, or by going to (Admin > All Settings > Save).

  • Oh, it works now. Thanks a lot, Alana!
