      I tried to upgrade to 5.6.11, but the setup file crashes the moment it finish extractions, below is the windows event log:

        This means that the user running the installer does not have the ability to access the database specified in the configuration files. You will need to be able to access and be a db_owner of the database in order to perform an upgrade.

          I tried to switch to sql login to no avail, still the same error. I suspect something else is going on as well. As this behavior only starts to happen at 5.6.10 and 5.6.11. 5.6.9 is fine.

            It turns out there was a known issue with that particular version of the installer. Do you know when you downloaded it? There was an issue with regard to reading existing configuration due to changes made in v5.6.9, and only should affect v5.6.10 of the installer now as the issues in the .11 version should have been resolved a while ago...

            Can you re-download the same version (v5.6.11) and try again?

              This must be it, redownload solved it. I downloaded 5.6.11 sometime on Apr 4.
