How do I force cancellation of a 'cancelling' build?

Our build server experienced a power-cut whilst it was deploying.

When BuildMaster came back online it was continuing with the build, but it was clear the execution had stalled. We cancelled the build but it has now been cancelling for well over an hour.

This means that subsequent builds are shown as pending and we're stuck.

      What can be done? Thanks

      Product: BuildMaster
      Version: 4.9.6

Though it almost always works (especially in v5), cancellation isn't guaranteed; there are some situations (such as one you described) where an execution will not respond to cancellation request.

In this situation, just stop and restart the BuildMaster service. The execution will move to a failed state when the service restarts.

Hi Alana, thanks for the reply.

I should really have mentioned that I've tried restarting the BuildMaster Agent Host Service a number of times already.

I've recently inherited this automation so am not overly familiar with it yet.

So being new to BuildMaster I was just restarting the windows service rather than using the site to stop the service.

Admin > Manage Service :> Stop then Start

            fixed it.
