We would like to use the bower feed for storing private and public bower packages. As bower is mainly only a wrapper around a git url, we would like to have a caching mechanism for third party git repositories, so that in case the public git repo is offline the content gets delivered thru proget.

As I can see private-bower has this feature.

      Product: ProGet
      Version: 3.5.8

not currently, but it's definitely on our roadmap to do a caching in a similar manner
