I installed BuildMaster yesterday and was starting to configure it and now I am getting

Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: User is not authorized for the selected task: Applications_ViewOverview

Its not taking me to the login page, just throwing the error.

You can run the Admin tool (BuildMaster.Configuration.AdminTool.exe) located in the Service subdirectory of the installation in order to reset privileges.

Curious, are you re-installing BuildMaster on a machine where you had uninstalled it before? Uninstalling BuildMaster does not delete its database by default, so existing privileges would be carried over, which may be attributed to the error.

It may also be cached credentials in your web browser if it's trying to log you in without having to enter a username/password. Try browsing in incognito/private mode to see if you still cannot log in.

OK, I ran the BuildMaster.Configuration.AdminTool with not luck. Yes this was a re-install but I deleted the database off of the server before the re-install was ran.

Its almost like it's not realizing that it needs to go to the login page. If I go directly to the login page it will let me log in from there and everything works like it should.

Are you using IIS or the integrated web server?

You may want to try the integrated web server. It's possible an IIS/system-wide setting is overriding some of the configration.
